For those who didn't attend our fund raising banquet on December 4, 2010, you missed out on a great evening. We had a fun social hour in the banquet room of MoMo's Japanese Restaurant and everybody was able to enjoy visiting and looking over the silent auction items. We were lucky enough to have Bill and Taylor Edrington come and give us an inspirational talk about "Why We Fly Fish" accompanied by some pictures to remind us of the beauty of being outdoors.

There were plenty of door prizes awarded throughout the night and one lucky member won the framed David Lance print to hang on his wall. The food was excellent and there was more than enough to go around. Many of those who attended remarked about the quantity and quality of the fare. Our silent auction was very successful and we raised a good amount for our cause for which I am very thankful to all of you who attended and participated. Next year plan on coming out for the evening and bring someone, a neighbor or a fishing buddy and join us for a great evening of fun.

  • Thanks to Erica Stock, Lou McCullough and Ben Wurster for coordinating the CTU Quarterly Board Meeting, hosted by our chapter at the Pueblo Marriott on January 22-23.
  • Thanks to John Shanley, Dr. Dennis Driscoll, Charles Mason and Jamie Christian for recent donations to the chapter!
  • Thanks to Pat McGraw and Frank Nemick for donating time in December to the PW High School Fly Tying Event.

January 7, 8 & 9 found us in Denver at the Flyfishing Show doing our best to sell raffle tickets for a stream improvement project in our area. I look forward to attending the show each year and make new friends and visit with some old ones. We had a successful weekend in spite of the recession proving that our mission is near and dear to many in the field of angling. Sunday saw a major storm move into the Denver area and sort of put a damper on the day but overall we got off to a great start for the 2011 raffle. Once again we are awarding a rod (Wright & McGill), Lamson reel, Scientific Anglers line, Nemick's Western Rivers 6 dozen flies and a full day guided trip on our tail water with the Drift Fly Shop. Take a chance and buy a least 1 ticket for our cause.

WINNERS!

The tournament was a huge success and we raised a lot of money for stream improvements on the Arkansas River. We had good weather and steady flows all day. All told, competitors netted over 2,300 inches of qualifying fish. The most rewarding thing was getting to meet each and every one of you. We had so much fun putting it on and seeing such a great group of folks in one room. We can’t wait to do it again. I want to thank everyone involved in making this work. Without your hard work, camaraderie and individual talents we never could have pulled it off. It was a SUPER effort for our first time tourney! See you at the 2012 Frostbite Fish-Off!
